TMHS 117: Feeding Your Family With A Busy Lifestyle And Why You Need To Put Yourself First - With Anne Stevenson
“Most people who meet my wife quickly conclude that she is remarkable. They are right about this. She is smart, funny and thoroughly charming. Often, after hearing her speak at some function or working with her on a project, people will approach me and say something to the effect of, you know, I think the world of you, but your wife, wow!” These words from President Barack Obama couldn't describe my experience any more perfectly. I've had the honor of helping to uplift and empower countless people, but when anyone gets a chance to meet my wife, they realize where all of the really good stuff is coming from. This woman is phenomenal. She's literally a breath of fresh air whenever you walk into a room that she's in. She's gorgeous, silly, loving and beyond intelligent. I seriously think I get smarter just by some weird osmosis from being around her. Now, let's be clear. She will tell you that she didn't get this way overnight. Sure many of these qualities were innately within her, but it was through self-work, introspection, making mistakes, and self-care that she was able to become the woman she is today. The self-work came from hitting the floor in so many situations in her life that she had to choose to raise her standards or stay glued firmly to the ground. The introspection was the hard work to look within and to see where her fears were at play, and the excuses that she had leaned on to justify not reaching her potential. Making mistakes came naturally as you employ the trial and success method to figure out what works for you as a unique individual with unique circumstances. The self-care is what enabled her to feel good, strong, beautiful, and capable of gracefully handling all of challenges that life throws your way. And all of this is a small piece of her story, but today you're going to learn far more and be able to glean some life-changing insights from her example. There is a balancing force within the universe that resides within all women. When a woman feels beautiful, appreciated, and strong within herself, unbounded miracles begin to happen around her. Diane Mariechild said, “A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform.” As men, we have to help create the conditions for the women in our lives to thrive. Because truly, nothing can give us more strength than the support of a woman who owns her real power. There are a lot of valuable insights here for all women and all men, all mom and all dads, and all people who want to do something exceptional in their lives. There is a lot more to health than just looking good. As a health & fitness expert, it may be grounds for impeachment to say that, but sometimes the reality of things can get off track when we're bombarded with so many messages telling us otherwise. A fit body does not necessarily mean a healthy liver, clean blood, optimal brain function, and a properly functioning gastrointestinal tract among other things. There are millions of seemingly "fit" people that are significantly unhealthy when you see them from the inside out. I know because I was one of these people... When I was 16-years old I had a 6-pack, huge pecs, and could run a 4.4 40-yard dash. I looked and even performed at a high level, but inside I was a ticking time-bomb waiting to go off. If you know my story then you know that by the age of just 20 I was diagnosed with a degenerative spinal disease that eventually led to a 50 pound weight, depression, and severe pain that had me on highly toxic painkillers for almost two and a half years of my life. There was a bright light at the end of the tunnel for me, but for many others who've been mislead by the health & fitness industry, they are still struggling to find their way. Well, we are working to make a huge shift in this today! You're about to get access to someone who is making tremendous strides in uniting the worlds of fitness and real health together. Your life is like a wheel. There are so many different components that come together to create your own personal "circle of life" (cue the Lion King Music!). These components are: Your health - your family and relationships - your career/work or mission - your finances - and your spiritual health and contribution. Life is not complete without the growth and development in all of these areas. The problem is, we are usually very off balance in one or the other based on where we are in our life. Your body might be banging, but your finances are in the toilet. You might have awesome relationships, but you're simultaneously struggling in your career. So, you see, your "circle of life" (your wheel) is usually pretty jagged and bumpy because of some parts being up and some parts being down... and this is what leads to a very bumpy ride in life. The truth is, life will have it's ups and downs, but there can be a lot more smooth sailing if you're able to grow gracefully and consistently in all areas. The question really is: How do you do it? And today, I have the perfect person to show you exactly how it's done. Many years ago I was sitting with my then girlfriend (now my wife... yep, I scored!) and we were watching this film that my amazing mother-in-law said we HAVE to watch... I honestly wasn't very interested in watching it... I had so much going on with trying to figure out how to structure my client's programs and even how I was going to pay my rent. We clicked play, and something unexpected happened. A man named Bob Proctor came on the screen with this confidence, grace, and sense of knowing that I'd never experienced before. I hung on his every word, and whatever this man had figured out, I wanted to know it too! The film broke down the hidden, but extremely real world of quantum mechanics. Not in a, "you'd better put on your pocket protector way", but in a real world "I get this" way that made me realize something profound. I realized in that moment what I had always known intuitively my entire life... That I matter. That I'm special. That I'm here to share the unique gifts that I have. That I am influencing the world around me (for the good and the not-so-good) based on the predominant thoughts that I'm carrying around in my mind. Bob told me that day, "If you can see it in your mind, you can hold it in your hand." The science in the film really spoke to my man-brain. The message in the film really spoke to my heart. Today I'm beyond honored to say that I have Bob Proctor on my show to be able to share him with you. In my mind him connecting with me is a result of hard work and effort. In my heart him connecting with me is a result of how powerful we all our to attract into our life the people, things, and resources we need to make the life we want a reality.
